“The work you do when you procrastinate
is probably the work you should be doing
for the rest of your life.”
– Jessica Hische
When I procrastinate from doing the dishes, I’m usually working on a new design project. Eventually the dishes will get done, but in the meantime, there are websites to create, email blasts to code, typography posters to kern and marketing campaigns to develop. Web design is one of my favorite ways to spend time because it joins together my problem-solving, data-driven left brain with my curious, creative right brain.
I want to do big things, but have fun along the way. I like to make people happy, but it’s not enough to bring a smile to your face if my method doesn’t have a purpose behind it. Communicating with graphic design follows the same logic for me: I want to solve design problems in creative and engaging ways, but I want to do so with purpose.
